Раньше пытались лечить заворот кишок, употребляя внутрь металлическую ртуть. Эффект был минимальным, зато больному угрожал разрыв желудка или кишечника (от веса ртути). Это вошло в учебники фармакологии.

Не думаю, что стоит документировать это непристойное зрелище, которое возникает после употребления ртути :D

В медицинских целях приходится делать еще и не такое - причем вполне серьезно.

Насчет употребления, токсичность соединений ртути как следует осознали только в 1960-х годах, а саму металлическую ртуть раньше воспринимали примерно как сейчас свинец.

К минусам книги можно отнести: поверхностность изложения, опечатки и неточности по части химии, а местами и откровенную рекламу БАД.
